The Clock Is Ticking

If you’re currently working as a Social Care Worker in Ireland and haven’t yet registered with CORU, the deadline to complete your registration including completing Stage 3 is fast approaching.

From 1st December 2025, the title “Social Care Worker” will be legally protected, and only those fully registered with CORU or passed stage 3 of the application stage will be allowed to use it or work in the role.

What Does Stage 3 Mean?

Stage 3 refers to the payment phase of the CORU registration process, where your application has been fully submitted and you’ve paid your €100 to have your application assessed.

What Are the Implications of Missing the Deadline?

    • You may lose access to roles within HSE, Tusla, and funded services
    • You will not be eligible for further registration via the Section 91 (Transitional) Route
    • Future employment opportunities may be severely restricted

Who’s Responsible?

You are. Registration is your individual responsibility, not that of your employer or service provider. Employers are under no obligation to support you after the deadline if you are unregistered.
