A well-established and growing automotive retail business is looking to appoint an experienced Workshop Controller to join its busy service operation in North Dublin. This position would suit a strong workshop professional who enjoys leading people, managing workflow, and ensuring customers receive a first-class service experience. Working closely with technicians, service advisors, and management, you will play a key role in keeping the workshop running efficiently while maintaining the highest standards of quality and productivity.

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and oversee the day-to-day workflow within the workshop.
  • Allocate work effectively across technicians based on skill level and capacity.
  • Monitor workshop productivity, efficiency, and labour utilisation.
  • Ensure repairs and servicing are completed correctly and on schedule.
  • Support technicians with technical guidance and problem-solving where required.
  • Work closely with Service Advisors to ensure repair instructions are clear and accurate.
  • Manage workshop loading to maximise productivity and customer satisfaction.
  • Monitor job progress and proactively address delays or issues.
  • Ensure all work carried out matches customer requirements and manufacturer standards.
  • Review additional repair requirements and communicate recommendations through the service team.
  • Assist with diagnosing intermittent or complex vehicle faults when necessary.
  • Maintain accurate workshop records and job documentation.
  • Conduct quality control checks before vehicles are returned to customers.
  • Lead and support a team of technicians, promoting high standards and teamwork.
  • Maintain a clean, organised, and safe workshop environment.
  • Identify equipment, tooling, or training requirements that could improve workshop performance.
  • Encourage best practices and continuous improvement across the department.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety procedures at all times.
  • Prepare service and repair estimates along with realistic completion times.
  • Keep up to date with technical developments and manufacturer training.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Previous experience in a Workshop Controller, Senior Technician, Foreman, or similar automotive leadership role.
  • Strong technical understanding of vehicle servicing, diagnostics, and repairs.
  • Proven ability to lead, motivate, and manage workshop teams.
  • Excellent organisational and planning skills.
  • Experience working towards productivity and performance targets.
  • Strong communication skills with both customers and colleagues.
  • Ability to make confident decisions in a fast-paced environment.
  • Good computer literacy and experience using workshop management systems.
  • A qualified Motor Technician background would be highly advantageous.
  • Professional, customer-focused approach.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
  • Full clean driving licence.
