Clinical Nurse Manager 1 (CNM1) Medical, Oncology & Cardiology Service
Department: Medical, Oncology and Cardiology Services
Location: Dublin, Ireland
Hours: Full-Time

Job Purpose

The Clinical Nurse Manager 1 (CNM1) will provide clinical, professional, and managerial leadership within the Medical, Oncology, and Cardiology Services. The post holder will support the CNM2 and multidisciplinary team in delivering high-quality, patient-centred care while ensuring compliance with professional, regulatory, and hospital standards.

The CNM1 will contribute to the effective management of resources, quality improvement initiatives, staff development, and the promotion of evidence-based practice to achieve optimal patient outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide visible clinical leadership and act as a role model for nursing staff.
  • Ensure safe, effective, and evidence-based nursing care is delivered at all times.
  • Ensure the safe care of patients receiving cancer treatment and supportive therapies.
  • Support the delivery of specialist nursing care to patients with acute and chronic cardiac conditions.
  • Assist in monitoring patients undergoing cardiac investigations and interventions.
  • Ensure timely assessment and escalation of deteriorating patients.
  • Promote best practice in patient flow, discharge planning, and continuity of care.
  • Assist in managing ward resources efficiently and effectively.
  • Participate in workforce planning and rostering.
  • Support recruitment, induction, and retention of nursing staff.
  • Ensure compliance with hospital policies, procedures, and national healthcare standards.
  • Promote patient experience and satisfaction through continuous service improvement.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Registered General Nurse on the active register maintained by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI).
  • Minimum three years post-registration acute hospital experience.
  • Demonstrated clinical experience in one or more of
  • Maintain active NMBI registration.
  • Evidence of leadership and staff supervision experience.
  • Knowledge of quality and risk management principles.
  • Excellent clinical assessment and decision-making skills.
  • Management or leadership qualification.
