Assistant Principal – Investigations (Temporary Assignment)

Location: Dublin 1 (Full-time onsite)
Contract Duration: 4 Months
Salary: 83,113 per annum (pro rata)
Annual Leave: 30 days per annum (pro rata)
Hours: 35 net hours per week (41 hours 15 minutes gross)

The Opportunity

Our client is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Assistant Principal to support the Director of Investigations within a dynamic regulatory and enforcement environment. Key Responsibilities

  • Support the Director of Investigations in progressing investigation workstreams.
  • Prepare high-quality reports, recommendations, and briefing papers for senior management.
  • Oversee the effective operation of the Assessment Unit.
  • Manage and monitor assessment processes, ensuring timely and accurate examination of external inputs.
  • Lead and support enforcement-related initiatives and reviews.
  • Identify trends and patterns through the analysis of statistical and operational data.
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Support risk management activities and contribute to organisational advocacy initiatives.
  • Provide leadership, mentoring, training, and ongoing staff development.
  • Manage case workflows, assign tasks, monitor progress, and review outputs to ensure high standards.

Essential Requirements

  • Relevant third-level qualification in Business, Law, Accountancy, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 5 years’ post-qualification experience in a legal, accounting, regulatory, compliance, or enforcement environment.
  • Minimum 3 years’ leadership or people management experience, including performance management and staff development.
  • Strong knowledge of company law and related legal processes.

Experience & Skills

  • Demonstrated experience in regulatory, compliance, enforcement, or investigative environments.
  • Proven ability to analyse complex information and identify key risks, issues, and opportunities.
  • Strong commercial awareness and sound professional judgement.
  • Experience managing multiple projects, priorities, and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Case management experience, including oversight of case files and team task allocation.
  • Excellent report writing, communication, stakeholder management, and influencing skills.
  • Strong leadership capabilities with the ability to build high-performing teams.
  • Ability to engage credibly with senior stakeholders both internally and externally.
  • Experience working effectively in multidisciplinary environments.
