Overview
Our client, a leading private hospital in Dublin, is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Cath Lab Nurse to join their expanding Cardiology team. This is an excellent opportunity to work within a state-of-the-art cardiac catheterisation laboratory, delivering exceptional patient care across a broad range of diagnostic and interventional cardiology procedures.
The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting consultants and multidisciplinary teams while ensuring the highest standards of clinical excellence, patient safety, and compassionate care.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality nursing care to patients undergoing cardiac catheterisation and interventional procedures.
- Prepare patients for procedures and provide ongoing assessment before, during, and after treatment.
- Assist cardiologists and multidisciplinary teams during diagnostic and interventional procedures
- Monitor patients’ haemodynamic status and cardiac rhythms throughout procedures.
- Administer medications safely and accurately in line with hospital policies and professional guidelines.
- Provide patient education and support regarding procedures, recovery, and ongoing cardiac care.
- Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation.
- Ensure compliance with infection prevention and control policies.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives, audits, and continuing professional development activities.
- Contribute to the effective operation of the Cath Lab service, including emergency and on-call requirements where applicable.
Candidate Requirements
Essential Criteria
- Registered General Nurse (RGN) with active registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI).
- Experience working within a Cardiac Cath Lab, Coronary Care Unit (CCU), Cardiology Ward, Intensive Care Unit (ICU), or relevant acute care setting.
- Demonstrated knowledge of cardiovascular conditions and cardiac interventions.
- Commitment to delivering patient-centred care.
- Previous Cath Lab experience in an acute hospital setting.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
- Postgraduate qualification in Cardiology Nursing, Critical Care, or a related specialty.
- IV medication and cannulation competencies.
