Senior Underwriter

Job description

We are partnering with a global insurer to recruit an experienced Senior Underwriter to join their Dublin based underwriting team, specialising in Income Protection business.

This role will be responsible for developing and managing a profitable Income Protection portfolio, supporting new business growth, providing technical underwriting expertise, and maintaining strong relationships with brokers, clients, and internal stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

• Underwrite and manage a profitable portfolio of Income Protection business.
• Monitor premiums, costs, performance metrics, and portfolio profitability.
• Assess risks, including reinsurance, capital exposure, underwriting costs, and administrative costs.
• Prepare policy terms and conditions in line with underwriting standards.
• Build strong relationships with brokers, clients, and third parties.
• Identify market opportunities, emerging risks, and potential threats.
• Support underwriting audits, business planning, presentations, and marketing materials.

What we’re looking for

• You will be results driven, collaborative, customer focused, adaptable, and confident in managing risk.

• 5-10 years’ experience in Income Protection within the Irish market.
• Minimum CIP qualification or equivalent recognised insurance qualification.
• Degree or equivalent in business, finance, management, or a related area preferred.
• Strong underwriting, risk assessment, and financial decision-making skills.
• Excellent communication, presentation, and relationship management skills.
• Ability to work strategically while delivering operationally.
