Orange Recruitment are looking for a Technical Services Engineer to join our clients team in the Midlands. This position sits within the Technical Department and works closely with colleagues across the wider division. The role is highly customer-focused, delivering practical, reliable technical guidance while supporting the continued development of digital tools that enhance the overall customer experience.
Responsibilities:
- Act as a primary technical contact for customers, confidently advising on a wide range of construction-related queries.
- Support both existing and prospective customers with product specification, offering guidance on areas such as fire performance, environmental considerations, thermal efficiency, structural capability and related compliance matters.
- Complete technical design calculations using approved software, including:
- Gutter design assessments
- Fastener calculations and panel span checks
- Acoustic performance evaluations
- U-value calculations and condensation risk analysis
- Produce and maintain standard CAD details, as well as develop project-specific drawings to meet bespoke design requirements.
- Contribute to digital specification services by collaborating with the BIM team to deliver tailored support to architects. This includes working with AutoCAD and Revit models, presenting 3D details, and supporting visualisation through various software platforms and augmented reality tools.
- Conduct virtual consultations and technical presentations with architects, engineers and contractors, with in-person meetings where required.
- Proactively record and manage project opportunities within Salesforce, ensuring the external sales team has clear visibility for tracking and follow-up.
- Provide guidance and support to junior team members and assist with ongoing departmental initiatives and improvement projects.
Requirements:
- Experience working within the construction industry.
- A relevant qualification in Architectural Technology, Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD, Revit or Tekla (advantageous).
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively in a fast-paced environment.
