Social Care Worker – Children’s Residential Services (Permanent)
Location: Tipperary (Thurles area)

We are urgently seeking passionate and skilled Social Care Workers to join a children’s residential service in County Tipperary, Thurles. As part of this role, successful candidates be will part of a child-focused team delivering consistent, trauma-informed care and supporting children through their individual journeys.

Requirements:

  • A Level 7 qualification in Social Care (or relevant equivalent) is essential.
  • A child-centred approach with strong emotional resilience and empathy.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team and remain calm in high-pressure situations.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to professional development and child protection best practices.
  • Driving licence preferred.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Build warm, respectful relationships with children and advocate for their rights, voice, and best interests.
  • Create a safe, stable, and therapeutic home where children feel secure and valued.
  • Respond to children’s emotional and behavioural needs using trauma-informed, attachment-aware approaches.
  • Support children through daily routines, including mealtimes, homework, appointments, and recreational activities.
  • Assist children in developing life skills, confidence, and positive peer relationships.
  • Collaborate closely with social workers, family members, teachers, and multi-disciplinary professionals to support each child’s care plan.
  • Maintain detailed care records and actively contribute to assessments, reviews, and planning processes.
  • Uphold safeguarding practices in line with policy and child protection legislation.
