Orange Recruitment is currently seeking a qualified Heating Engineer to provide both planned preventative and reactive maintenance services, while also supporting the installation and commissioning of heating and mechanical systems for our Dublin-based Facilities Management client. This role plays a key part in ensuring building services operate safely, efficiently, and in a cost-effective manner, supporting seamless day-to-day operations.

You will take full responsibility for the upkeep of heating plant, boiler systems, and associated utilities, ensuring all works are carried out in strict accordance with company policies, client requirements, environmental standards, and health & safety regulations. This is a nationwide, field-based position requiring travel to multiple client sites.

Responsibilities:

  • Carry out routine planned preventative maintenance (PPM) on heating systems and associated mechanical plant.
  • Proactively identify potential faults to reduce downtime and enhance system performance and reliability.
  • Service, inspect, and maintain boilers, burners, pressure vessels, pipework, pumps, valves, and heating controls.
  • Diagnose heating system faults and complete efficient and effective repairs.
  • Complete and submit all PPM documentation, compliance certification, and service reports accurately and on time.
  • Assist in preparing quotations and support the installation, upgrade, and commissioning of heating plant and mechanical equipment.
  • Liaise with the helpdesk and engineering management team to provide updates on plant status and ongoing works.
  • Participate in training and professional development as directed by your line manager.
  • Develop familiarity with site-specific systems, operational procedures, and compliance requirements.
  • Adhere strictly to all Health & Safety legislation, industry standards, and best practice guidelines.
  • Report any incidents, near misses, or irregular findings promptly.
  • Maintain plant rooms, boiler houses, and work areas in a clean, safe, and organised condition.

Experience:

  • Senior trade qualification in Plumbing, Heating, or Mechanical Services, or a diploma in a related Mechanical Engineering discipline.
  • Proven experience working within utilities, commercial buildings, or facilities management environments.
  • RGI certified (fully trained and qualified).
  • Demonstrated experience in both preventative and reactive heating maintenance.
  • Competent in using tablets, smartphones, and maintenance management software systems.
  • Ability to work independently, manage workload effectively, and prioritise tasks in a field-based environment.
