Health & Safety Advicor

Job description

Orange Recruitment is currently seeking Health & Safety Advisors to support a large-scale utilities operation on behalf of our client. This is a hybrid position offering a combination of remote working and regular site visits. The successful candidates will work closely with operational teams across active sites to help maintain, monitor, and continuously improve health and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct site inspections and compliance audits across contractor operations, local authority projects, and operational sites.
• Investigate incidents, compile detailed reports, and support the implementation of corrective actions and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Deliver and support health & safety initiatives including toolbox talks, safety alerts, and awareness campaigns.
• Promote a positive and proactive safety culture through regular engagement with operational teams and contractors.
• Monitor incident data, analyse trends, and assist in developing preventative measures to minimise future risks.
• Provide practical health & safety guidance and support to employees, contractors, and site personnel.
• Assist with risk assessments, method statement reviews, and ensure compliance with all current health & safety legislation and company procedures.
• Participate in project stages including design reviews, safety input, and pre-handover inspections.

Requirements:

• Relevant qualification in Health & Safety.
• Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a similar Health & Safety role within utilities, construction, infrastructure, or a related sector.
• Proven experience conducting site inspections, audits, and incident investigations.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a practical, hands-on approach.
• Good IT proficiency, particularly in Microsoft Excel and reporting systems.
• Full clean driving licence and access to a vehicle.
• Previous experience within the water or wastewater sector would be advantageous, though not essential.
