Assistant Principal Grade
Reporting day-to-day to the Director of Finance and Corporate Services, the Director of Digital Transformation at Sport Ireland, will lead the change management of our digital landscape. This pivotal role will lead the organisations adoption of technologies to enhance collaboration, streamline processes, and future-proof our work practices. As we embark on this transformative journey, we are seeking an innovative leader to drive the evolution of digital tools and strategies for maximum efficiency and impact.
Job Purpose
The Director of Digital Transformation is tasked with leading both the sport sector and Sport Ireland’s digital evolution. The role aims to optimise the use of digital tools, ensuring adaptability and ease of use while fostering collaboration across the organisation and sport sector. The role also involves strategically positioning Sport Ireland to embrace emerging technologies, ultimately future-proofing our operations in a rapidly evolving digital landscape.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Assess the current digital ecosystem within Sport Ireland and the sports sector, identifying opportunities for improvement and efficiency gains.
- Develop and implement a comprehensive digital transformation strategy aligned with organisational objectives.
- Lead cross-functional teams to execute digital initiatives, ensuring seamless integration and user-friendly experiences.
- Oversee the adoption and adaptation of digital tools, fostering a culture of innovation and collaboration.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to understand departmental needs and tailor digital solutions accordingly.
- Champion the implementation of emerging technologies, staying abreast of industry trends and advancements.
- Drive change management processes to ensure smooth transitions and user acceptance of new digital tools.
- Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the success and impact of digital initiatives.
- Collaborate with IT and data security teams to ensure the integrity and security of digital systems.
- Provide leadership and guidance on digital literacy and skill development across the organisation and sport sector. This is not an exhaustive list, and the role will include any duties required by Sport Ireland from time to time which are appropriate for the position and the needs of the organisation.
Person Specification:
The ideal candidate for the role of Director of Digital Transformation at Sport Ireland will be an accomplished leader with a proven track record in successfully driving digital transformation initiatives. Possessing a strategic mindset and a strong business acumen, the candidate should demonstrate in-depth knowledge of emerging technologies and their practical applications. Exceptional project management skills and excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities are essential. The successful candidate will have a collaborative approach, building strong relationships across diverse teams. A relevant degree in business, information technology, or a related field, along with a minimum of 5 years of senior leadership experience in digital transformation, is required. The candidate should be committed to continuous learning, staying up to date with digital trends, and contributing to Sport Ireland’s evolution in the digital landscape.
The post-holder will have:
- A bachelor’s degree in business, technology, or a related field.
- 5 years of experience in leading digital transformations, or a related field, preferably within the sports or non-profit sector.
- Proven track record of effectively implementing digital transformations programmes
The post-holder will have a track record of significant relevant achievement which should include:
- Proven track record of successful digital transformation initiatives in a leadership role.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and execute digital strategies that align with organisational goals.
- In-depth knowledge of emerging technologies and their practical applications.
- Strong project management skills with a focus on delivering results in a dynamic environment.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence and inspire change.
- Strategic thinker with a proactive and innovative approach to problem-solving.
- Collaborative mindset, capable of building strong relationships across diverse teams.
- Commitment to continuous learning and staying updated on digital trends and best practices.
The desired candidate will have:
- Experience managing complex multi-supplier ICT contracts would be beneficial
- A Track record of establishing or supporting GDPR & Data governance frameworks in public or private sector organisations.
Additional Information:
Contract: Full-time, Permanent Role. Salary Scale: Assistant Principal Officer (AP) Standard Scale. The appointment will be made on this scale at a point in line with current Government Pay Policy. New entrants to the public sector commence on the first point of scale.
