Staff Nurse (Endoscopy / Medical Day Unit)

Overview
An opportunity has arisen for a Staff Nurse to join a dynamic healthcare team providing high-quality, patient-centred care within an Endoscopy Unit and Medical Day Service. This role involves delivering compassionate care across a range of diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, as well as supporting patients requiring specialised treatments such as infusions.

Purpose of the Role
To collaborate with the nursing team to ensure excellence in patient care through a well-educated and motivated workforce, and the effective use of resources. The role is guided by a commitment to high standards, patient dignity, and quality care delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver safe, effective, and efficient nursing care from patient admission through to discharge
- Conduct patient assessments, develop care plans, and maintain accurate documentation
- Communicate patient information clearly using recognised handover tools (e.g., ISBAR)
- Maintain accurate and confidential patient records in line with policies and procedures
- Administer medications safely in accordance with regulatory and organisational policies
- Perform clinical procedures such as IV cannulation as per guidelines
- Respond effectively and calmly in emergency situations
- Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams and other departments
- Provide leadership support and take charge in the absence of the Clinical Nurse Manager (CNM)
- Supervise, mentor, and support student nurses and junior staff
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and support accreditation processes
- Monitor stock levels and ensure appropriate resource utilisation
- Report and document incidents or adverse events in line with organisational policy
- Participate in performance review and continuous professional development activities
- Follow appropriate communication and escalation pathways
Person Specification
Essential Criteria:
- Registered General Nurse on the live register with the Nursing and Midwifery Board
- Minimum of 2 years’ relevant clinical experience
- Experience working within a multidisciplinary team
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Desirable Criteria:
- Proficiency in IT systems and documentation tools
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification
