Chief I Cardiac Physiologist – Cath Lab | Leading Private Hospital | North Dublin

Location: Dublin (with support services in Cavan & Navan Outreach Clinics)
Job Type: Full Time
Reports To: Cardiac Services Manager

Job Purpose

The Chief I Cardiac Physiologist will provide a high-quality, patient-centred cardiology service across the hospital in Dublin and its outreach clinics in Cavan and Navan. The post-holder will deputise for the Cardiac Services Manager as required and play a key leadership role in the continued development of Cardiology Services.

Clinical Responsibilities

The Chief I Cardiac Physiologist will perform all duties associated with a Senior Cardiac Physiologist and must demonstrate proficiency in:

  • Echocardiography
  • Cardiac pacing
  • Cath Lab diagnostics and interventions
  • Cardiac device implantation and box change support

The post-holder must be competent in reporting procedure findings and escalating abnormal findings appropriately.

Essential Qualifications

  • BSc in Clinical Measurement Science
  • Certificate in Medical Physics and Physiological Measurement
  • Or equivalent qualification
  • Echocardiography accreditation (e.g., BSE, ARDMS, EACVI)
  • Cardiac pacing accreditation (e.g., IBHRE, EHRA, BHRS)
  • IICMP accreditation (for candidates without BSc or equivalent qualification)

Essential Experience

  • Minimum 5 years post-graduate experience in a Cardiology Department.
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience at Senior level.
  • Minimum 5 years Cath Lab experience.
  • At least 3 years supporting cardiac device implants and box changes.
  • Resting ECG
  • Exercise treadmill testing
  • Fitting and analysing ambulatory Holter and BP monitors
  • Pacemaker, loop-recorder, ICD and CRT follow-up
  • Transthoracic echocardiography and reporting
  • Assisting with transoesophageal echocardiography
  • Assisting with diagnostic and interventional Cath Lab procedures
  • Assisting with pacemaker and implantable defibrillator procedures
  • Reporting findings and identifying abnormal results

Desirable Skills

  • Dobutamine stress echocardiography
  • Tilt Table Testing
