Building Services Engineer

Orange Recruitment are seeking a Building Services Engineer to join our clients Technical team in the Midlands. This role involves working closely with internal departments and external stakeholders to deliver practical, technically sound solutions across a range of building services applications. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting customers, contributing to project development, and helping drive innovation in how technical services are delivered.This is a customer-facing position that combines engineering expertise with clear communication and collaborative working.

Responsibilities:

• Provide technical guidance and support to clients, consultants, and contractors on building services systems, including HVAC, ventilation, energy performance, and compliance requirements.
• Assist with system design and performance assessments, ensuring solutions meet regulatory standards and project specifications.

• Carry out engineering calculations using approved software and in-house tools

• Heating and cooling load calculations
• Ventilation and airflow assessments
• Energy performance and efficiency evaluations
• Pipe and duct sizing calculations
• Review drawings and technical submissions to ensure coordination with architectural and structural elements.
• Produce and update technical drawings and schematics using CAD and BIM software, developing both standard and project-specific details.
• Work collaboratively with design teams to support specification development and provide technical input during project planning stages.
• Deliver virtual and in-person technical meetings with project stakeholders to review proposals, resolve queries, and provide ongoing support.
• Maintain accurate records of project activity and opportunities within internal systems to ensure visibility across commercial and technical teams.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives and provide mentorship to junior colleagues where required.

Requirements:

• Experience within building services engineering or a related discipline.
• A relevant qualification in Building Services Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or similar.
• Proficiency in industry-standard software such as AutoCAD, Revit MEP, or other BIM platforms (desirable).
• Strong analytical skills with attention to detail.
• Excellent communication and organisational abilities, with the capacity to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
