Special Care Workers – Children’s Residential Services

Location: Dublin
Contract: Permanent, Full-Time
Salary: €40,351 – €68,169 per annum

Orange Recruitment is currently recruiting Special Care Workers to join child-centred residential services across Special Care Units in Dublin. This role involves supporting children and young people in residential care through structured interventions, daily routines, and emotional support, helping them progress toward stability and independence.

Applicants must have a minimum of 18 months’ experience in a care setting and be CORU registered or eligible for registration. Orange Recruitment will provide full guidance and support throughout the CORU process where required.


Key Responsibilities

  • Provide a safe, supportive, and structured environment for children and young people

  • Support the implementation of Care and Placement Plans

  • Promote the physical, emotional, and social wellbeing of each child

  • Assist with daily routines, education, appointments, and recreational activities

  • Engage in therapeutic activities, structured interventions, and age-appropriate play

  • Liaise with families and external professionals

  • Maintain accurate records and prepare written reports

  • Participate in team meetings, supervision, and training

  • Respond appropriately to challenging behaviour, including approved physical interventions


Essential Requirements

  • Level 7 qualification in Social Care or a related discipline

  • Experience in children’s residential, special care, or alternative care settings

  • Authorised to work in Ireland

  • CORU registered or in the process of registration

  • Knowledge of child protection, safeguarding, and trauma-informed care
