Position: Person in Charge (PIC) – Adult Intellectual Disability Service
Location: Wexford
Contract Type: Full-time, Permanent
Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Person in Charge (PIC) to lead and manage an Adult Intellectual Disability Service in Wexford. The successful candidate will have overall responsibility for the day-to-day management of the designated centre, ensuring the highest standards of care, compliance with HIQA regulations, and the promotion of a rights-based, person-centred approach for all residents.
Key Responsibilities

Ensure effective management of the designated centre in line with HIQA standards, the Health Act 2007, and all relevant regulations.

Provide strong leadership, guidance, and support to the staff team, fostering a positive and professional culture.

Ensure the development, implementation, and review of person-centred care plans for each resident.

Promote independence, dignity, and community integration for all service users.

Maintain high standards of safeguarding, governance, and quality assurance within the service.

Ensure appropriate staffing levels, supervision, training, and professional development for all staff members.

Manage budgets and resources effectively, ensuring efficient use of funds and compliance with financial policies.

Act as the key liaison with families, multi-disciplinary teams, HIQA inspectors, and external stakeholders.

Lead on regulatory inspections, audits, and continuous quality improvement initiatives.

Maintain accurate, up-to-date records, incident reports, and compliance documentation.
Qualifications & Requirements

Essential:
-
A Level 8 qualification in Social Care, Nursing, or a related discipline.

A minimum of 3 years’ management experience in health/social care, in line with HIQA Regulation
-
Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of HIQA standards, safeguarding, and rights-based care.

Full clean driving licence and flexibility to travel locally as required.

Desirable:
-
Post-graduate qualification in Leadership/Management.
-
Experience managing an Adult Intellectual Disability Service or Designated Centre.

Training in Crisis Intervention / MAPA / Positive Behaviour Support.
