Civils Foreman

Job description

Orange Recruitment is currently looking to hire a Civil Foreman for a civils-led project in the Cork area. This is a key role for someone with a strong background in civil engineering works and a proven ability to manage crews and subcontractors on busy construction sites. The successful candidate will take a hands-on lead in delivering the civils element of the project, ensuring that work is carried out safely, to spec, and in line with programme timelines.

Responsibilities:

• Oversee day-to-day civils operations on site, ensuring safe and efficient delivery of works
• Coordinate and supervise direct labour and subcontractors across groundworks and associated civil packages
• Work closely with the Health & Safety team to maintain a safe working environment and ensure compliance with regulations
• Monitor progress against the project programme and flag any potential delays or issues
• Keep accurate site records, including labour, plant and material usage
• Communicate effectively with engineers, management, and external stakeholders
• Drive quality on site, ensuring works are carried out to the required specification and standards
• Motivate teams and maintain a positive, solutions-focused approach across the crew

Requirements:

• A strong background in civils, with proven experience managing crews and subcontractors on medium-to-large construction sites
• Solid understanding of groundworks, drainage, services installation and general site prep
• Previous experience in a foreman or general foreperson role essential
• Strong leadership and communication skills, able to give clear direction and get the best out of the team
• Ability to work under pressure and deliver work to tight deadlines
• Good understanding of health & safety requirements and site compliance
• Organised, proactive and a team player
