Orange Recruitment is seeking an experienced Accounts Assistant to join a Public Sector body, delivering key administrative support in ensuring the efficient operation of the day-to-day activities within the Accounts Payable section of the Finance Department on a Temporary Basis

The successful candidate will play a key role within Accounts Payable section and the wider Finance Team to deliver a range of finance functions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Accounts Payable mailbox management and administration – Daily mailbox check
  • Processing supplier invoices ranging from:

– checking compliance with internal Procurement procedures

– recording of primary source information

– obtaining appropriate approval

– payment of the supplier

– issuing remittances

  • Ensuring compliance with Revenue obligations (including tax clearance, VAT, PSWT and RCT where applicable)
  • Carry out all required follow-up tasks and alerts in relation to progressing invoices to payment, particularly where information is incomplete or inaccurate
  • Set up of new supplier accounts including verification of bank details
  • Reconciliation of supplier statements
  • Posting ad hoc payments to our financial system, Integra
  • Dealing with queries from suppliers
  • Bank Reconciliations and petty cash
  • Preparation of month end accruals.
  • Assistance with Month end close / ad hoc cover.
  • Any other duties that may be assigned as required.

About you

  • 2-3 year’s experience in a similar role (finance officer, accounts payable, accounts assistant)
  • Knowledge of Integra desirable. Other large financial systems an advantage
  • Demonstrated experience in processing a high volume of invoices
  • Must have experience in bank reconciliations, month end and revenue obligations
  • An understanding of basic accounting principles and reconciliation skills.
  • High level of numerical skills: with ability to scrutinise large volumes of data against policy and procedures and ability to work to a high degree of accuracy and detail.
  • Good computer literacy (Microsoft Office Suite, PC packages, etc)
  • Previous Public Sector experience desirable
  • Ability to work on own initiative
  • Strong verbal and written skills
