Job Title: Environmental Health & Safety Manager
Location: Virginia, Co. Cavan
Salary: €65,000 to €70,000

Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S) Manager to join our team in Virginia, Co. Cavan. Reporting to the Site Manager, the EH&S Manager will lead all site activities related to Environmental Health & Safety, ensuring the promotion of a safety-first culture. This is a full-time, on-site role, working closely with management and staff to drive continuous improvement, ensure regulatory compliance, and enhance site safety culture.

The role also includes supporting the weekend roster, working approximately 4-5 weekends per year.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement the site’s EH&S strategy, aligning with the company’s broader goals.
  • Foster a zero-harm culture by driving continuous improvement and safety initiatives across the site.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant EH&S regulations and stay updated on new legislation.
  • Manage the site’s EH&S training programme, ensuring statutory requirements are met and promoting best practices.
  • Lead and engage staff in EH&S awareness programmes, serving as a role model for safety.
  • Oversee the site’s Occupational Health and Sustainability initiatives.
  • Develop and track EH&S KPIs, supporting production teams to meet safety and performance targets.
  • Act as the site’s representative with external stakeholders such as local authorities and regulatory agencies.
  • Lead investigations into accidents or incidents and ensure timely, thorough reporting.

Requirements

  • Third-level qualification in Health & Safety, Engineering, Manufacturing, or a related discipline.
  • 3-5 years of experience in an EH&S role within the dairy, food, or pharmaceutical sector, ideally with management experience.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills, with a proven ability to influence and drive change.
  • Experience in continuous improvement, particularly within a lean manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to work effectively with internal teams and external stakeholders.
